It's Spring but put on a Scarf

I'm a subject matter expert when it comes to the Godfather movies. Film 1, 2 and even 3; even though true Godfather experts Do Not count 3 as a true continuation of the story. We all know it was done to appease the sponsors/producers and not the truth of the story line. Anyway, I could go on and on. One thing that comes to mind lately is to always stay watching; Never let your guard down and be prepared.

Now, this isn't a paranoid warning as if to say everyone is against you. However, if you are serious about making moves to promote your career forward you can't be naive enough to think that someone isn't watching you. That there isn't someone saddling up to the managers and partners whispering disparaging words about your work, your ethics and your ability to get the job done in line with the focus of the company. It's never the person you think it is, like your main competition. That person is so busy trying to out hustle you they don't really have time to sabotage you. It's the weakest link, the one who knows when they are alone that they don't truly have what it takes to make it big, That is normally the person who is the one dropping nuggets of you in a negative light.

So, the Godfather had it right "... Listen, whoever comes to you with this Barzini meeting, he's the traitor. Don't forget that..." The person who comes to you, telling of someone else working against you is usually the one who is secretly trying to move you out of the sight of management. The management who decides on the member of the next project, who is included at dinner with the client, who will be the ground team to present a good front to get the proposal. So, even though the weather is warming and the sun is shining, put on your shades but wrap your neck in a scarf; be protected and prepare yourself for the weather turning without warning.
