Being Basic is a Good Thing

In today's slang, being "basic" is a bad thing. It means you are not original, not expensive, predictable. However, when it comes to success the being basic is a good thing.
The basics of success are simple: choose a goal, focus your actions towards it, repeat this everyday until you reach them. Sounds simple and it's definitely a basic recipe.
Consistency of actions and not losing focus are the keys to succeeding in anything, but especially in the career arena. You won't get every promotion, being passed over for team lead will be deflating for sure but you must keep going. You must keep doing everything that you are doing until you reach the goal you have set for yourself.
Others will do grand gestures, all eyes will turn to them. It doesn't mean they will reach success any faster than you do. Even those who are promoted before you, it has nothing to do with you. Your promotion is coming and will be the right fit for you and the right time.
I'm not saying you shouldn't stand out from the crowd. Being unique is a super power all in itself. But being Basic in actions and consistency will be just what gets you to the top of your field.
