Honesty Begins at Home

If there is one thing I know, the conversations with yourself are the most important.

Creating a plan, joining an accountability group to help move you towards your goals but the relationship you have with yourself is what will truly determine if you reach your goals or not. You have to have a full trust relationship with yourself.

Sounds a bit silly, but when you don't tell yourself the truth about who you are, where you are, what you need and what you have is a break in trust in yourself. If you can't trust yourself to be honest when you are alone then how can you trust what others say to you or about you; you can't. Whether you admit these things to others or not, you must admit them to yourself.

You must be honest about your accomplishments, your failures, your weaknesses, and your fears. Being honest with yourself doesn't take away from what you can be. It doesn't diminish your self-esteem. What it does is build up the trust you have with yourself and in yourself. It is this trust you have with yourself which will also trust the plan and the actions you put into place to reach your goals and fill the desires of your heart. Honesty is a foundational piece to the growth you are working on.

Before you can get other people to believe in you, you must believe in yourself. You can't believe in yourself if you're not sure you can believe the stories you tell yourself about yourself. Be Honest. Make a list, a true list, of your strengths weaknesses, dreams and goals. Those quiet wants you have not ever said out loud. Now it the time to say them out loud to yourself. You already know the truth of these things, but to say it out loud is creating a solid relationship with yourself. At the end of the day, you will need you more than ever if you want to get to the places you want to go.
