It's Been a Long Time ...

HELLO!

It's been a long time since I've posted. It's not because I didn't have anything to say. It's definitely not because there isn't a need for guidance on maneuvering the maze of getting a position, growing your career presence, and moving your paper goals to reality. The void for my voice didn't change, but I did.

My changed is the idea that career progression is a slow and steady journey. It's still a journey but the pace for growth is faster. No longer can hesitation and months of research and conversation to make a decision be a stretch in the journey. If you know where you want to land, then action is the only decision.

It has been said "you have to teach people how to treat you". If you believe you should be paid more, lead more projects, be a manager, organize larger teams then YOU have to move as if you should. No one knows you "should be" until you show you "should be". Your presence in a room (even a Teams room) should bring an energy of knowledge and skills. How?

Stand in what you've accomplished. Stand in your strengths. Don't just raise your hand to volunteer, raise your voice to interject additional information. Unmute yourself and ask the question instead of typing it in the chat. Turn your camera on instead of hiding in a wrinkled t-shirt and messy hair. Being a boss isn't just a hashtag, it's a way of life; work life.
