Let's Start Making Some Changes

Well, we are coming up on the end of 2020. Yippee!!! There will be so many sighs of relief as the ball drops at midnight on December 31, 2020. As a world, we are all praying 2021 brings us a new beginning with positive outcomes of joy, laughter and the freedom to roam a bit more freely. The question that comes to my mind is: Are you ready?
What plans and preparations have you made for this shift into a better year? No, I'm not talking about resolutions. I'm talking about actions you've taken to make sure you're ready. Your goals will take more than just a career improvement. Success is all encompassing. It's your job and your lifestyle. Nope, wrong again. I'm not talking about flossing, bling or whatever term that's being used right now. I'm talking about your clothes, your house, your routines that you've put into place to support reaching your goals and having overall success.
Let's start with clothes. Yes, it appears a lot of us will be working from home for the foreseeable future. Which means you will STILL need work clothes. Have you thoroughly gone through your closet and purged? Those old workbags that no longer fit the image you're cultivating. Possibly, its time to let go of those dress shirts with the stains, pulled stitching or frayed sleeves. Should I talk about the pants that are a bit snug, which you keep saying you're going to fit into? Hmm... Should I go on?
This week, before it's too late, pull every item from every drawer in your dresser. Keep what will still serve you once you reach your goals. Success does not clock out at 5pm or for the weekend. Every aspect of your lifestyle should fit with your vision of your success. If it doesn't and is in good condition drop it off at Good Will or a Homeless Shelter. If it's not then throw it in the trash. No, it won't work as something to wear when you're cleaning the house. Throw It Away! Repeat the same thing with every item in your closet. Also, check the hangers in your closet. If they aren't all the same, I won't get into the type or kind of hangers, then it's time to get that together too. Empty your Amazon cart and now order some hangers.
This blog has long spoken to the idea that Career Success is a Lifestyle. You cannot have success in your career and not have a lifestyle which reflects that as well. You cannot have a lifestyle reflecting success and not move yourself to success in your career. They truly go hand in hand. Use these last days of 2020 to get yourself positioned for success in every aspect of your life.
